In ME, I also turn off render preview while encoding (the less it has to think about it seems, the better), and only use the Metal renderer in ME. The other thing I sometimes do is export a full-res all rendered ProRes file in PP, let ME do the encoding on just that file, and it works fine without pausing. Lots of pauses, but it usually gets through the timeline. It may still crash at some point (Ug!!), no guarantees, but I’ve gotten through hour long shows this way. I have no idea what’s going on under the hood, but pausing the encode, maybe, lets ME “catch up” with encoding on the drive. Unpause after a second (milliseconds in computer time!). DaVinci Resolve 14 is a fully-fledged color grading program for film and video editing. Then, baby-sit the ME render by pausing the encode (press spacebar) often, sometimes every 15 seconds or less. Then I continue doing render/“Save As XX” chunks again until done.Ĭrashing in ME is often solved (but unfortunately not guaranteed) by: before sending to ME, render all video previews in PP. When timeline all rendered, re-save without the xx numbers (or not….) If there’s a crash during this process, I’ve been able to go back to the most recent Save As xx, and all renders up to that point are still there. On PP 13.1.5 on Mojave, I’m having pretty good success keeping lost render files by rendering small in/out timeline chunks AND, after say, 10-15 segments, doing a “Save As”, incrementally adding numbers to each (ie 01, 02, 03….), and confirm.
